What does it mean to have Inner Leadership?
Why do we need it?
How do we know when we have it?
What does it do for us and those around?
How does it improve our lives?
Why is it important?
We don't hear much about Inner Leadership, do we?... know why?
Because most of us are looking for leadership out in the world. We look for leadership as if it is a material thing to be found somewhere out in the world.
But, leadership does not live out there in the world.
Leadership comes from within, from a deep sense of knowing what we are beyond that which we try so hard to be.
We create many images and stories of who we would like to be and who we would like others to think we are. We end up forgetting that which we truly are and have always been.
It may be counter-intuitive and even uncomfortable to find out what we have forgotten about ourselves. But, it can be no worse than having never remembered us. There can be nothing worse than living a whole life, without tasting what we are. That's like eating a delicious fruit without peeling off the skin. We may end up thinking the fruit is bitter, rotten, or poisonous, when in fact, we never peeled off the skin and experienced the fruit's sweet flesh, which has always been there, available, waiting to be tasted by us.
Inner Leadership is the sweet taste of the inner fruit. It nourishes, inspires, motivates and empowers us to lead ourselves, our families, organizations and communities towards our next level.
